Welcome to FosterLink

fl15FosterLink is a program offered by The Blue Ribbon Project. FosterLink is a resource website developed by Foster Youth, former Foster Youth, and various professionals. FosterLink is intended to be an on-line community as well as a resource to find additional information on a variety of topics.

In 2014, 22,392 youth "age-out" from the foster care system when they reach age 18 or age 21 (depending on the state in which they reside). Unfortunately, youth in foster care often do not get the help they need with high school completion, employment, accessing health care, continued educational opportunities, housing and transitional living arrangements. Studies of youth who have left foster care have shown they are more likely than those in the general population to not finish high school, be unemployed, and be dependent on public assistance.

Testimonials

Aging Out was a frightening time for me. I had not made a plan for what would happen and it came up faster than I expected. I wish I had better prepared myself.

Those of us in foster care have the tables stacked against us. I made a promise to myself that I would not be another statistic. I feel I had to work harder than others my age, but my hard work paid off and I was able to graduate college.
